Top wildlife experience
Features millions of animals
The annual Great Migration is one of the greatest wildlife extravaganzas
of the planet - featuring almost two million wildebeest and zebra
thundering across the grassy plains, followed by hungry predators
(and tourists), in search of better grazing.
Pinpointing the exact time is difficult as it is all weather dependent,
but traditionally the migration sets off in April/ May or June when
the new calves are ready for the journey. From the Serengeti National
Park, the animals set off in a north-westerly direction towards the
western corridor and the Grumeti River. By August/September, the animals
have reached the Masai Mara in Kenya. The Great Migration is one of
the highlights of most visits to Africa and one of the most photographed
wildlife events in the world.
